Bargain Hunger for Basics

What do you wear what you’re a bargain hunter? I’m all about shopping sales, thrift stores, and the occasional garage sale. Basics like black jeans and t-shirts are easier to find at deep discounts than ever before, and the Nordstrom Annual Sale has become quite the event in the blogosphere. I saw a similar jacket on a blogger’s post weeks ago, and essentially stalked it until it went on sale. Since Nordstrom’s has feee shipping AND returns, I was able to order two sizes to make sure the reviews which advised sizing down were correct (they were). This outfit is very comfortable, and will be great for the cooler “transitional” weather ahead. Both necklaces are self-made, one pieced together from a vintage choker (dang, women used to be so TINY!) plus brass chain, and one made from a vintage medallion found for a few euros at a flea market in Nice, France. Wow, do I love being able to say that! The bracelets pile on the memories, one made from Croatian limestone (from the island of Korcula, Croatia), one made by local artist @BarbaraBall (SoHoney), and the bronze piece found in Nashville, and made by (with proceeds going to) women impacted by domestic violence. The multi/bead one is self-made with beads gifted from a friend, who got them in Ghana during her Peace Corps days. Jacket: Caslon, via Nordstrom, t-shirt: Banana Republic, jeans: Gap, shoes: garage sale find. sunglasses: RayBan. #fashionfriday
