I was introduced to Lauren Maybry’s work by my long-time artist and art-collecting friend Pam Manske. Then, I saw her gorgeous ceramic cylinders (which she describes as “dimensional glaze paintings” at the Lux Center for the Arts. Mabry is from Wisconsin, now lives in Philedelohia, and received her MFA at UNL. Her forms are simple and pure, and her “glaze flow work” is the focus. The fact that we had her living and developing her internationally recognized genius right here in Lincoln, Nebraska almost gives me chills.
